TACET-WALKAROUND

Transform pre-flight inspection training with TACET-Walkaround, an immersive, CAA-approved simulation, delivering measurable, repeatable performance insights.

ELEVATE PRE-FLIGHT

INSPECTION TRAINING

TACET-Walkaround is a module within Cineon’s TACET platform designed to enhance one of aviation’s most safety critical procedures: the pre-flight inspection.

It provides a high fidelity, immersive environment where pilots can practise realistic walkaround procedures in a safe, controlled setting. By removing reliance on aircraft availability, weather and operational constraints, it enables consistent, repeatable training at scale.

Developed with Jet2.com, TACET Walkaround uses Airbus A321, A320 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft to reflect real fleet operations. Additional aircraft can be incorporated as required, ensuring flexibility across fleets.

CAA APPROVED TRAINING DEVICE

TACET Walkaround has become the first virtual reality-based training device to receive approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority as an Other Training Device (OTD) for pilot training.

This approval allows airlines to integrate Walkaround into regulated training programmes as an alternative means of compliance. It represents a significant milestone in the adoption of immersive training technologies across the aviation sector and demonstrates the credibility, safety and effectiveness of the platform.

EVIDENCE-BASED PERFORMANCE INSIGHT

Powered by Cineon’s Empathic Learning Engine (ELE), TACET Walkaround captures eye-tracking and behavioural data and presents it through a dedicated dashboard.

The dashboard provides clear insight across cognition, attention, performance and competency, with the competency view aligned to industry standard assessment frameworks.

This enables objective measurement of:
  • Scanning efficiency
  • Situational awareness
  • Hazard detection
  • Decision-making

Together, these insights support Competency Based Training and Assessment and Evidence-Based Training, helping organisations identify gaps and improve performance.

IMMERSIVE AND REPEATABLE TRAINING

TACET Walkaround replicates real aircraft inspections in XR, allowing pilots to move naturally around the aircraft to identify faults and hazards.

The experience is:
  • repeatable and standardised
  • available on demand
  • unaffected by operational disruption
  • scalable across training centres
This ensures consistent training delivery while reinforcing critical safety behaviours.

KEY BENEFITS

TACET-Walkaround enhances training effectiveness while reducing operational constraints and costs. Organisations benefit from:

JET2 COLLABORATION

Working alongside Jet2, we developed and deployed TACET Walkaround from initial concept and software development through to CAA approval and operational rollout, supporting every stage of the journey.

Today, TACET Walkaround is embedded within Jet2’s pilot training programme across its Manchester and Bradford training centres. Delivering a more immersive, measurable learning experience while reducing operational costs and improving training efficiency.

The partnership demonstrates how innovative technology can be successfully integrated into highly regulated environments, enabling organisations to modernise training while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality.

The success of the collaboration was recognised at the 2025 Jet2 Supplier Awards, where Cineon was named one of only three award winners.

WHAT OUR PARTNERS SAY

“At Jet2.com, safety is our top priority, and training plays a critical role in that commitment. Partnering with Cineon to implement TACET Walkaround in our Manchester and Bradford training centres allows our pilots to experience a realistic, measurable and CAA-approved simulation of pre-flight inspections. This innovative approach ensures they gain the skills and confidence they need before stepping onto the tarmac. We are proud to be leading the way in adopting technology that can enhance both safety and efficiency across our pilot training programmes, and we look forward to exploring the wider potential of TACET in future training initiatives.”

Captain Christopher Harris, Head of Crew Training (NPCT), Jet2.com,

“Immersive technology is changing how we learn, and having CAA approval of a VR-based device for pilot training for the first time is huge validation of its impact and effectiveness. Jet2’s adoption of Cineon’s solution puts this innovation into practice, with AI and VR being actively used to train its pilots and put safety at the forefront. Using VIVE Focus Vision, integrated eye tracking combined with the emotion AI in TACET, these training scenarios are more realistic, measurable and repeatable.”
